Foundation StAGE

Welcome to Foundation Stage!

We have two classes, Rabbit and Hedgehog. Both of these classes are mixed nursery and foundation age children. Hedgehog class is taught by Mrs Edmonds. Rabbit class is taught by Mrs Young and Mrs Gardiner. Both classes are supported by our experienced teaching assistants Mrs McCrorie, Mrs Asplin, Mrs Marks and Mrs Carne.

We work as a unit, allowing the children to move freely around all areas of the Foundation Stage with the children having access to the outside area whatever the weather! We plan a wide range of opportunities for children to learn through fun, hands on experiences in both adult led and child initiated activities. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum which is made up of 3 Prime areas: Personal, Social & Emotional Development; Communication and Language and Physical Development. There are also 4 specific areas of development: Literacy; Mathematics; Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.

Children will be given opportunities to learn at their own level and we often follow the children's interests to help us plan fun and exciting activities. We love the outdoors and always plan activities that involve the environment around us. We also have a designated 'Forest School' session which children will have the opportunity to be part of once a term.

Our exciting themes for the Autumn Terms are 'Ourselves' followed by 'Festivals and celebrations' after half term. These are subject to change, due to following the children's interests.
