 PE Vision Statement

Plaistow Hill believes that Physical Education plays an essential role in children's development. We aim to have a fun and challenging PE curriculum that engages all children. We will provide lessons focussed on the fundamentals of movement (Agility, Balance and Coordination) allowing children to practise and master these key skills. PE will encourage children to challenge themselves, work as a team and build positive attitudes towards PE. Children will be given opportunities to experience many different sporting activities in lesson time and for extra-curricular clubs.

 Real PE

We are now teaching Real PE to all the children in the main school, the children are really enjoying the lessons. Hopefully they are now starting to enjoy their lessons more as well as feeling more successful and challenged. Before the children started their Real PE journey, they were asked their thoughts on PE lessons.

Pupil voice

(Children in FS, Year 1 and Year 2 were asked their opinions - Approx 129 children)

I like PE   88 children

I feel successful in PE   100 children

I feel challenged in PE   60 children

As these results show, all of these areas need to be worked on and Real PE will help to improve this. The children will be asked their opinions again at the end of the year and this should show a marked improvement in all the areas.

What is school sport funding?

The government has provided funding of £150 million per annum for the last few academic years to provide new and substantial primary school sport funding. The funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children.
