Fundraising
Each class in school will be raising money this year for a chosen charity which links with their learning. For 2017-18 the charities chosen will be:
Term 1-Rabbit
Rabbit class are raising funds for Sports for Schools. This is a charity which bring Olympians into schools to inspire children. The children will be sponsored to complete 4 different activities with Olympian Antony James.
Term 2- Hedgehog
The children in Hedgehog class will be arranging the activities for Children in Need.
Term 3- Whole School
The whole school will be fundraising for a school project.
Term 4- Squirrel
Squirrel class will be organising the whole school events to raise money and to help celebrate World Book Day.
Term 5-Badger
Badger class will be fundraising for Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Term 6-Owl
To link in with the KS1 summer topic Owl class will be raising funds for the RNLI.
Charities for 2016-17
Term 1- Squirrel Class
Squirrel class chose Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity to fundraise for. We dressed up as our favourite Roald Dahl character and Squirrel class also took part in a sponsored obstacle course and raised an amazing £198!
Term 2- Hedgehog Class
Hedgehog class chose Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child and filled 30 shoeboxes!
Term 3- Badger Class
Badger Class organised a cream tea for parents/carers and raised £61 for English Heritage.
Term 4- Rabbit Class
Rabbit class have chosen Gables Farm to fundraise for - they have organised the 'Great Gables Bake Off' and cake sale to raise funds!
Term 5- Owl Class
Owl class have chosen Greenpeace to fundraise for.
Term 6- Whole School
Raising funds for something specific for the children at Plaistow Hill
Other fundraising
In September, we held a cake sale for Macmillan Cancer Support and raised £260.
In October, we celebrated Red, White and Blue Day to help fundraise for Forces Charities by wearing red, white and blue mufti to school. We raised £129.
We also sold poppies for the annual Poppy Appeal and raised £64.45
In November, we helped fundraise for Children In Need- we all wore spotty clothes and the School Council organised a 'guess how many smarties in the jar' competition. We raised £135.80.
To celebrate World Book Day, we came to school in our pyjamas and invited our parents and carers in for stories and hot chocolate. Donations were made and £105 was raised to purchase new books for the school library.

Starfish class
Starfish class raised £36 for the Worldwide Fund for Nature by holding a sponsored cycling event.
Seahorse class
Seahorse class have been collecting this year for the Samaritan's Purse initiative, Operation Christmas Child. They filled 25 shoeboxes with goodies such as sweets, teddy bears, toys, books, pens, hats, gloves and other items which will be sent onto children in disadvantaged countries around the world.
Octopus class
Octopus class held a sponsored wheelchair obstacle course to fundraise for Whizz-Kidz. They raised an amazing £438! Mrs Bechley ran this year's London Marathon for Whizz-Kidz and including the money donated from school, she raised over £2700.
Turtle class
Turtle class have been fundraising this year for the NSPCC. They held a Toy Sale in October and raised £36.08.
Dolphin class
Dolphin class held The Great Rainforest Bake Off. Lots of children made cakes which were judged by our own Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood (Mrs Burnett and Mr Rollinson) The winner was Lexie from Dolphin class. The class raised £300 for the Rainforest Alliance.
Shark class
Shark class raised just over £200 for JTS by taking part in the 90kg rice challenge. They hosted a 'Curry Lunch' at school - parents and carers were invited into school to enjoy a delicious curry cooked by the school kitchen. The children in Shark class also sold bags of rice to their families and friends to help with the fundraising.
Other Fundraising
Plymouth Foodbank
For Harvest, we asked parents and carers to donate some food items which were passed onto the Foodbank.
Children In Need
We held a Cake Sale and came to school in spotty mufti and raised £275 for Children In Need!
Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal
In the lead up to 11th November, we sold poppies in school to raise money for the Royal British Legion.
