Stories in the City (19th September 2012)
A group of 20 key stage 1 children this week took part in Stories in thr City, an annual event organised by the Local Authority, where children go to different and sometimes unusual settings around Plymouth to listen to stories. Our children went to RoccYLola which is a Spanish restaurant. As well as listening to a story in Spanish (and English!) they also enjoyed sampling some delicious tapas!
Multi Skills at The Life Centre (19th September 2012)
We were very happy this week to be asked to come along to the Life Centre to take part in a teacher's PE conference. 14 of our key stage 1 children were asked to demonstrate their fantastic multi skills to teachers from across Plymouth. We all had a great time!
Happy Puzzle Company (18th May 2012)
We have been lucky enough this week to have a visit from the Happy Puzzle Company. The children had great fun working together with their friends to complete a range of puzzles and problems. They worked really hard together, showed great perseverance, and loved the challenge!
A Multicultural Experience (12 and 13th March 2012)
This week our school were delighted to welcome a very special visitor from Nepal into our school. Sunita, a teacher from Nepal, came into school along with two other people from the Plymouth Faith Centre to talk to the children about life in Nepal and how it is different from the UK. We had a chance to learn a little bit about their culture, including Holi (Hindu Festival of Colour) as well as what schools are like in Nepal. We also learnt more about what Nepal's landscape is like as well as finding out about some of the animals which live there. Sunita even showed us some Nepalese writing and how to say a few words in Nepalese. The children all really enjoyed this valuable multicultural learning experience.
Road Safety Show with Emazdad the Magician (7th March 2012)
The children all had a chance to watch a great show put on by Emazdad the Magician, along with a few of his friends. The children learnt lots about staying staff whenever they are near to or crossing a road. They all now know to:
STOP away from the kerb
LOOK both ways for vehicles
LISTEN for any vehicles
WALK smartly across the road
All the children really enjoyed this visit and learnt some really valuable things.
Science Day (22nd February 2012)
On Wednesday we had an exciting visitor into school who showed us lots of interesting and fun things linked to science. We learnt more about electricity, sound, the weather, bubbles, rainbows and lots of other things too. We also did lots of investigations in the classroom. Here are a few photos of our day.
Explorer Dome (30th/31st January 2012)
This week we were lucky enough to be able to welcome the Explorer Dome into school. Thank you so much for all the money that was sent into school to allow them to come in. We couldn't have done it without your kind donations.
In Nursery and Year 2 the children had an exciting show all about space. They learnt lots more about the planets and stars, and listened to lots of stories about them. In Foundation Stage 2 and Year 1 the children listened to creation stories from around the world. All of the children (and grown-ups) really enjoyed their time in the dome.
Unfortunately, because it was very dark in the dome, we weren't able to take many pictures. However look out for us in the Evening Herald as they came in to take some pictures too!
