Foundation StAGE

Welcome to Foundation Stage!

We have two classes, Rabbit and Hedgehog. Hedgehog class is taught by Miss Mayhew and Mrs Smith. Rabbit class is taught by Mrs Young and Mrs Gardiner. Both classes are supported by our experienced teaching assistants Mrs McCrorie, Mrs Carne, Mrs Jordan, Miss Palmer and McBride.

We work as a unit, allowing the children to move freely around all areas of the Foundation Stage with the children having access to the outside area whatever the weather! We plan a wide range of opportunities for children to learn through fun, hands on experiences in both adult led and child initiated activities. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum which is made up of 3 Prime areas: Personal, Social & Emotional Development; Communication and Language and Physical Development. There are also 4 specific areas of development: Literacy; Mathematics; Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.

At times we mix with the Nursery children which allows them opportunities to explore, investigate and practise new things together.

Our exciting themes for the Autumn Terms are 'Over the Rainbow' followed by 'Festivals and celebrations' after half term. We are very much led by the interests of the children and will adapt our planning to meet these needs as appropriate.
